Great recognition – for great public service HR
The PPMA HR Awards are a great way of recognising your contribution to public service HR. Held on Monday 22nd March 2010, they represent the pinnacle of achievement in a variety of award categories and the awards form an integral part of the PPMA National Annual Conference.
The 2010 HR Awards categories are:
- Wellbeing Strategy
Wellbeing Strategy: Winner – Olympic Delivery Authority - HR Innovation
HR Innovation: Winner – East Sussex County Council - Best PPMA Region
Best PPMA Region: Winner – North East Region - Workforce Skills and Development (new award for 2010)
Workforce Skills and Development : Winners – London Borough of Lewisham and London Borough of Croyden

Talent Management: Winners – Lancashire County Council
- Human Capital Management
Human Capital Management: Winner – London Borough of Haringey
- HR Transformation
HR Transformation: Winner – Northumberland County Council
- HR Efficiency and Business Impact
HR Efficiency and Business Impact: Winner – Birmingham City Council
- Outstanding Professional Contribution
Outstanding Professional Contribution: Winner – Martin Rayson, Lead for HR Transformation, for his work on the PPMA HR Transformation Portal

Here are some details about each award:
Wellbeing Strategy - reflects the growing importance that enlightened organisations place upon the health of their workforce. The award will be made to the organisation that best demonstrates a strategic approach to wellbeing aligned to business performance.
HR Innovation - creating innovation through effective human resource management is a critical part of organisational change and transformation. The award recognises the innovative use of HR and OD practise to address a specific business issue or problem.
Best PPMA Region - this award recognises the region that has worked collaboratively or in partnership with the PPMA to deliver added value to PPMA members.
Workforce Skills and Development – a new award category for 2010 to reflect the theme of this year’s conference, this award will be presented to an organisation that has adopted and implemented a strategic approach to workforce development and to advancing the skills of the workforce across their organisation.
Talent Management - this award reflects the organisation that has developed its people to best meet its business aims.
Human Capital Management - is our award to the organisation that can show best how its human capital management delivers effective business performance. We will be looking for you to demonstrate measures and benchmarks of effective people management practise.
PPMA Outstanding Professional Contribution - will be given to an individual or organisation whose contribution to the PPMA and/or HR profession is at a top-level.
HR Transformation - This award recognises where HR has transformed the business to deliver stronger performance. It could also include where the HR function has been transformed, which in turn, demonstrably improves performance.
HR Efficiency and Business Impact - Showcase an example of where HR has made your organisation much more efficient and give real examples of improved business impact.
Entry is simple – demonstrate what you have achieved against these criteria above. No need for long, complicated explanations or colour brochures. So take up the challenge, write a simple summation of your achievement and we’ll judge the best in class.
